patriotic holidays of 2007 fast approaching, we are pleased to honor our United
States Veterans, particularly those
from Lewis County,
with a History of the Units who served from
the Lewis County
area from 1770 to the Present.
We appreciate the efforts of Marty Garton of the
Engineers Batallion of the West Virgnia National Guard stationed at
Weston for this work.

most exciting genealogical "finds" of the still young Twenty-first Century is a 1672
French Bible owned in 1775 by
Randolph and Harrison
County pioneer
Joseph Louis Cheuvront!! This Bible contains the MUSTER ROLLS of the militia serving in
John Skidmore's Company at Fort
Henckel
(Hinkle) in 1775. 
Pre-publication
orders are now being taken for our new veterans
book, CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA VETERANS. This new book
contains more than 500 bios and photographs submitted by families and
veterans. This book is the first of several planned volumes. You may submit
your story and pictures for the next volume. Visit the Central
West Virginia Veterans Project to learn more. 
Our 26th Annual Gathering will be held August 9-12,
2007. This year's theme is "Grandma said. . . She rode off on a
White Horse. .
We are
adding photographs from various resources to our website. You will find the
links to these in our HCPD Files on the left of
this page.
