THE JACKSON NAME IN CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA

One of the most predominant names in Central West Virginia is Jackson. This is due, in large part, to our connection to the Civil War hero, Confederate general Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. However, the general's great-grandfather and grandfather were also in the first party of homeseekers to cross the Allegheny Mountains from the South Branch of the Potomac River and become some of the earliest settlers in what is know Upshur, Lewis, and Harrison Counties, West Virginia.

As a tribute to the general and to the leadership of the Jackson family in the Central West Virginia for the last 230 years, we present this special section of the HCPD Homepage. Here you will find links not only to our website but to others pertaining to the family elsewhere on the web.

We hope you enjoy your tour here. We invite you to pay us a "real" visit and see the sites where it all began.
